Introduction to Marbella, Puerto Banus and Calahonda
Calahonda & Cabopino Situated in the province of Malaga midway between Marbella and Fuengirola. Quality and prestigious living areas only 10 minutes from Marbella and right in the heart of the "Costa del Golf". Puerto Banus, southern Europe's premier boating and leisure centre, is only 15 minutes and Malaga International Airport can be reached within 20 minutes via a fast modern motorway (toll road).
Sitio de Calahonda is the largest property development you will find between Marbella and Fuengirola. The area has grown so much in recent years that it will soon qualify as a town in its own right. .
While the vast majority of Calahonda's 600,000 square metres is devoted to villas, townhouses and space for four golf courses, selected areas have been dedicated to providing residents with every amenity imaginable. There are, therefore, three commercial centres which house most of the area's restaurants, cafeterias and pubs as well as several banks. There are supermarkets and a wide variety of other businesses providing the visitor with every service imaginable including health care.
Sports are easily incorporated into a Calahonda lifestyle with golf courses at every turn, The club tennis del sol and of course the charming marina / port, of Cabopino.
Cabopino is an area carefully developed along the golden sandy shores between Calahonda and Marbella, for the main part set amongst mini forests of Mediterranean pines right down to the Sand dunes and beaches. The yachting Marina at Cabopino is a favourite for those seeking a pleasant meal alongside the boats - there are some splendid restaurants.
Golf courses in the area include Miraflores, Santa Maria, Cabopino, Santa Clara and Rio Real although many others are but a short drive away.
Elviria on the outskirts of Marbella is favourite with those looking for the best sandy beaches on earth - they may just find them here.
Marbella is now a thriving business centre as well as one of Spain's top tourist attractions - here you can "shop til you drop" with every top fashion name being represented. The casino de Marbella is a popular destination but remember your passport. The old quarter of Marbella is charming and will beg you to explore the old streets and alleys. Restaurants in this area are particularly special.
Puerto Banus will probably require little introduction - famous the world over for its International Yachting Marina. In Banus you can certainly expect to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. The area is also known as Golf Valley - situated just behind, in Nueva Andalucia are the popular golf courses of Los Naranjos, Aloha Golf, Dama del Noche, Las Brisas and La Quinta. From here there are over 20 courses within 20 minutes drive.
